Harrisburg, PA – September 16, 2026 − Senator John Kane today announced that $7,498,066 in Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide grant funding was awarded yesterday to support critical improvements across Chester and Delaware Counties. These grants will directly enhance public safety, municipal infrastructure, environmental resilience, and vital community facilities throughout the 9th Senate District.

The newly awarded funding includes:
Delaware County
- Bethel Township – $500,000
Final design and construction of the Shaffer Preserve, transforming the site into an ADA‑accessible community recreational asset with trails, boardwalks, stormwater improvements, plantings, and new amenities. - Brookhaven Borough – $646,067
Accessibility upgrades at Memorial, Samson, and Our Lady Charity Parks, including compliant parking areas, accessible paths, and a new driveway entrance. - Chadds Ford Township – $110,000
Repairs and upgrades to Turner’s Mill, including a new roof and deck enclosure to improve safety and storage capacity. - Chester City – $650,000
Replacement of 17 aging municipal vehicles across police, fire, public works, parks, code enforcement, and planning departments, supporting Chester’s operational recovery. - Chester Heights Borough / Rachel Kohl Community Library – $150,000
Roof replacement and solar panel installation to improve sustainability and reduce long‑term energy costs. - Chester Township – $100,000
ADA accessibility and interior renovation upgrades to the Wilson Center municipal complex. - Chester Water Authority – $150,000
Modernization of water pressure and distribution systems in Aston Township and Brookhaven Borough. - Delaware County Industrial Development Authority – $400,000
Rehabilitation of a multipurpose community building for The Minority Center, serving education, youth development, mental health, and community wellness programs. - Delaware County Redevelopment Authority – $40,000

Acquisition and construction of a new public works garage and salt storage facility. - Upper Chichester Township – $200,000
