DELAWARE COUNTY, PA – February 27, 2025 – State Senator John I. Kane today announced the approval of $1,034,219 in Multimodal Transportation Fund grants for four critical infrastructure projects across the 9th Senatorial District.

“These investments represent our commitment to creating safer, more accessible communities across Delaware and Chester Counties,” said Senator Kane. “From enhanced pedestrian safety to improved public transportation infrastructure, each project will directly benefit our residents while bringing economic growth in our region.”

The approved projects include:

  • $475,000 for Upper Chichester Township’s Phase 3 Chichester Avenue Streetscape project, focusing on improvements along the Chichester Avenue and Meetinghouse Road intersection corridor
  • $300,000 for New Garden Township’s Church Road pedestrian crossing improvements in Chester County
  • $176,112 for Nether Providence Township’s “Walkable Wallingford” initiative, which will create new sidewalks on East Rose Valley Road and Putters Lane
  • $83,107 for the West Chester Railroad Heritage Association to rehabilitate railroad tracks in Thornbury Township

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants for the development, rehabilitation, and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, including streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets, and transit-oriented development.
